A brief history

  • Founded in early 2000 by ski enthusiasts Anthony Collins and Dermot McNally with some family financial backing and a vision to create the world's number one online ski company.
  • Immediately, we got to work developing a world-class online ski booking platform that would do away with the requirement to print expensive holiday brochures and pay commissions to travel agents. We were the first ski company of offer real-time online ski holiday booking.
  • In October 2000 we launched into the Irish ski market with a small programme to Austria, Italy and Andorra.
  • In 2001, we received our UK Tour Operator's licence from the Civil Aviation Authority and began operating flights from Gatwick and Manchester. We also added France to our programme.
  • In 2004, we received significant investment from ACT Venture Capital, Ireland's largest Venture Capital company, which allowed us to expand our product range and in-resort infrastructure. ACT have continued to invest in the company.
  • In 2005 (and again in 2006, 2007 and 2008), we were recognised as one of the 50 fastest growing companies in Ireland as part of the annual Deloitte Fast50 awards.
  • In 2006, we acquired Ski McNeill - Northern Ireland's leading ski travel agency and now operate from both our headquarters in Dublin and our 'Ski Loft' in Belfast. We are the biggest operator of ski flights from Northern Ireland.
  • In 2007, we were recognised by the Irish Government as a company with high international growth potential and received a major investment from Enterprise Ireland, the Irish government agency responsible for the development and promotion of the indigenous business sector.
  • With our team in Dublin and Belfast and over 50 in-resort staff, we now look after the holiday requirements of almost 40,000 skiers with flights from Gatwick, Heathrow, Manchester, Belfast and Dublin to top ski resorts in 10 countries.
 

What we do

Package Holidays: As a licenced tour operator, our core business is full-service package ski holidays which include (unless otherwise stated):

  • Flights from Gatwick, Heathrow, Manchester, Belfast and Dublin using well established, reputable airlines or the Ski Train from St. Pancras in London.
  • One of more than 300 hand-picked hotels, chalets, apartments, guesthouses and pensions in over 50 resorts in Andorra, Austria, Bulgaria, Canada, France, Italy, Norway, Slovenia and USA.
  • Meet-and-greet in your arrival airport and coach transfer to your accommodation.
  • The services of our in-resort team 24 hours a day to help you make the most of your holiday.

Accommodation Only: If you're feeling independent, we can offer accommodation in over 220 resorts - many on a flexible duration. While we probably won't have a rep located in your resort, we will provide you with a 24 hour contact number for assistance by phone and can get someone to you quickly in case of emergency.

Flight Only: Throughout the season we offer great deals on flights to the slopes. Keep an eye on our homepage for deals.

Directski.com is a licensed and bonded Tour Operator and all our holidays with flights are fully protected. For passengers departing from the UK, our holidays are ATOL Protected by the Civil Aviation Authority (ATOL number 5653). For passengers departing from Ireland, our holidays are protected by the Irish Commission for Aviation Regulation (licence number is TO172). So, no matter what happens, you can be confident that your holiday and money is safe.
